Air Duct Cleaning in Cloverleaf, TX
Call (713) 949-1414
Why does Cloverleaf dust come back so fast?
Usually because of where the house sits. Cloverleaf is unincorporated, just east of Loop 610 along I-10 East. Freight runs that corridor around the clock. The industrial belt sits to the south. Diesel soot and brake dust ride the air into leaky returns. A return in a hallway wall cavity pulls whatever the attic holds. Clean the ducts and the source keeps feeding.
The housing stock matters more than people expect. Most of the neighborhood went up between the 1950s and the 1970s. Small single-story slab ranch houses with carports and low-pitch roofs. There are mobile home sections too, with short duct runs under the floor. Attic clearance is tight at the eaves. A tech crawls on his side out there.
What we find inside varies by vintage. Rigid metal trunks with failing tape joints. Early fiberglass ductboard that sheds at the cut edges. Undersized returns starving the blower. Decades of blown insulation fallout sitting in the plenum, gray and matted.
Ductboard that is crumbling should not be brushed. Agitation destroys it. That is a sealing or replacement conversation, handled honestly. Many of these systems have never been opened since install. The first inspection tells you most of what you need.
Frequently Asked Questions
My house is from the 1960s and I don't think the ducts have ever been cleaned. Is that a problem?
It's the most common situation we run into in Cloverleaf. A lot of these slab ranch houses still have their original rigid metal trunk or early fiberglass ductboard, and if nobody has opened the system since it was installed, you're looking at decades of buildup. The usual find is attic insulation fallout that has worked its way into the plenum and settled in the first few feet of supply runs, plus general dust that never had anywhere else to go. It's cleanable in most cases. What we can't do is make old ductboard new again. If the inner lining is shedding or the board has gone soft, we'll tell you that straight rather than clean around it.
Why do my returns get filthy so fast out here?
You're a short distance from I-10 East with freight running it around the clock, and the industrial corridor sits south of the neighborhood. Diesel soot and brake dust are fine enough to ride in through gaps around doors, carport-side walls, and any unsealed return cavity, and the return is where the system pulls hardest. On top of that, a lot of Cloverleaf houses were built with returns that are undersized for the air the blower is moving, so what air does come in arrives fast and loaded. That combination puts a gray film on the return grille and in the first stretch of return duct faster than you'd expect.
What does the attic in these houses mean for the job?
Clearance. Most of these single-story homes have a low attic with the ducts run flat along the joists, and in some spots there's barely room to get a body and a hose in there. It slows the work down, and it means we do more of the cleaning from inside the house through the registers and the plenum than from on top of the ducts. It also affects what we can inspect. We'll get eyes on what's reachable and be honest about anything we couldn't physically get to. If you're in one of the mobile home sections, the duct layout is different again, usually a belly duct under the floor, and we approach that separately.
What makes one Cloverleaf house cost more than another?
Mainly the number of supply runs and returns, what the ducts are made of, and how tight the attic is. A compact three-bedroom ranch with metal trunk and a handful of registers is at the simpler end. It moves up when there's old ductboard that needs careful handling, when insulation fallout has packed the plenum and that has to come out before anything else happens, or when the attic clearance means everything is worked through the registers. Mobile home systems price differently because the duct runs under the floor rather than overhead. We look at the system before we commit to a number, not after.
Can you come out the same day, and how far ahead should I book?
Same-day happens, usually when someone else's slot opens up or when we already have a truck working east of Loop 610 that day. Call in the morning and we'll tell you honestly whether it's realistic for your address. Otherwise a day or two out is typical. The busier stretches are the start of cooling season and right after a stretch of heavy use, when everyone notices the smell or the dust at the same time. If your system is down entirely, say so when you call. That changes where you sit in the schedule.
